I got an E-mail this morning from a group of folks that I normally support, but cannot this year due to the economy. Fending off guilt, it's the least I can do to familiarize others to many peoples good and heartfelt work.

Several years ago my family lost both our dogs to health issues related to old age. After the grieving process we were determined to open our home to shelter or rescue animals. I'll not go on about the work that many volunteers do, but will say without them many thousands of animals would be euthanized.

Our experience was with The Blue Ridge Boxer Rescue people and the dog we adopted has turned to be one of the best purebred dogs I've even known. She's turned into the greatest playmate and protector for my kid and made an incredible turn around since we adopted her.

If I can't send the money, at least I can tell the story. So if your family is need of a "Dire Wolf" for your household, please use a rescue agency or shelter to save these animals from their wasted potential.

Here is the Blue Ridge web link:

http://www.blueridgeboxerrescue.com/availabledogs2.html

And here is a national website devoted to rescue;

http://www.petfinder.com

Even if you're not looking into adding an animal to your household, I would encourage you to read about the work these folks do. It can be both heart breaking and heart warming, but most of all, everyone should be aware of the problems and issues related to abandoned and abused pets.

(I also believe that the individual members of this forum are bigger and better than the esoteric nature of our little community here. Our little 911 exercise, other than the circus it became, showed me that there are ideas we can all get behind, and some perhaps we can even act in unity on.)

WT: I'll return the lectern post haste.

Well, it looks like you right of center folks aren't such cold hearted bastards after all.

Har, har...of course, we knew that in your case from way back.

Feral cats are a huge issue out this way (preying on song birds and lizards), and adoption programs certainly need all the support they can get. Being a dog person (sorry, Dire, I could just as well feed a cat to snake...hmmm, saw that some bozo was arrested for trying that! oh, and JK!) it breaks my heart to see them fending for themselves (there too it seems cats do better in that respect, but we don't need the addt'l predators).

Yea Yea, just an old softie when it comes to animals. This, by the way, along with free will is God's other joke on humanity and that is dominion over the animals. I prefer to think of it as stewardship, even though I also prefer to think of cows as cheeeseburgers on the hoof.

In reality, I'm just a guy that's taken a couple of canines off the streets and out of harms way which has added to the quality of MY life. It's the volunteers that nurse and the people that foster these dogs that have the big hearts.

That's more than enough to take some justified pride in...as Kipling would say, "never give your heart to a dog to tear"

That's it ,W.Tell ,Jerry's last message : "I tried ,you know ,for a very long time, but it was hurting too much, after all these years ,to keep seeing them so satisfied of themselves .So I quit, the music can go on without me ,as I got other trails to see ." And "never give your heart to the dogs to tear " said he , Jerry !

how right you are! with so many wonderful dogs (and cats ) being eauthenized every day nobody should get an animal from a breeder or pet store. thank you Earl for rescuing your boxer and may she have a happy and healthy life!

Brigitte Bardot also works very hard to rescue animals and she is treated like shit in France by the rotted medias ! Brigitte Bardot is the most beautifull french lady since the fifties and still is so today !She gave away her fortune money as actrice to create her foundation solely devoted to the causes of animals ,and she helps finance animals refuges also .

How much of her money goes to the Le Pen and the National Front? Rotted media, NA!

...when you get down to hell with me, I'll have a hearty fuck off waiting for you and see if you can suggest one freakin' dead show as you've yet to do so.

One of your big problems , Bluedevil ,is your incapacity to differenciate the brainwash you got from fat bullshit medias and basic common sense to evaluate who did really what and who is only trashing others with worthless haterds , NA !

From Canard, France's weekly anti-American newspaper:
"France announced today that it plans to ban fireworks at Euro
Disney.

Reason:
Last night's display caused soldiers at a nearby French army garrison to Surrender."

L canard enchainé an anti american newspaper , Jdiglynn ? I don't think they have enough guts for that ! Mostly a lefties weekly who, whowerer ,has a real talent to reveal the corruption of french politicians in french goverment . As for french or american soldiers ,you can do all the jokes you want ,safely hiding in your house ,I, for one do not care about soldiers killing for flags ,so no wonder you low joke gets appriciated by low trash as your banditos who love wallowing in garbage . I thought you a better man than you actually are ,Ddinglynn !
